In the Beginning
Early attempts at curling in Morrisburg took place on the St. Lawrence River east of Lock 23. Curlers soon sought better ice and began renting from the Morrisburg Skating Rink. To avoid the skaters darting across the sheet while games were in progress, the club began planning to acquire their own permanent facility. Construction began in the fall of 1906 on a site facing Colin Street and running south to Henry Street. The total cost of construction was $878, and a set of curling irons was purchased for $72. The building pictured at the right, built on Henry Street in 1938, housed a two sheet ice surface. After the club's construction, membership flourished and quickly grew to one hundred sixty members.
The Present
Our currentsite, on the corner of Ontario Street and Annette Street, was constructed in 1957. The building and ice facility is maintained and continually upgraded by a dedicated and exuberant group of members. Our facility features three sheets of ice with video screens that project a bird's eye view of the house, a lounge overlooking the ice, licensed bar, a well-equipped kitchen and changerooms with lockers. Come join us for an exceptional curling experience with friendly and welcoming people. As new curlers enthusiatically join our club on an annual basis our membership continues to grow steadily.
