Draw 4 of the senior men’s competition recently announced their top teams. In 3rd place were Don McMillan, Len Bellamy, Paul Gunther and Mike Horton. Second were Mahlon Locke, Pete Byvelds, Ken Paice, and Mike Legault. The champions were Peter Zeran, Neil Williams, Doug Dixon and Gerry Thompson. Congratulations to all!

On March 28th the club ran the Hughie Hutchinson Funspiel. Hugh was an ardent Scotsman, but with few of us left, it became just a funspiel rather than the “take no prisoners” event it was in Hugh’s heyday. Andy Patenaude, Pete Byvelds, Kent Dawley and Mike Horton were the overall winners in what was a very pleasant day, as always.

We had a team compete in North Grenville’s 222 tournament recently. Dave King, Joanne Baker, Fred “Boomer” Langlotz and Cindy Paice lost their morning match to the eventual winners, a North Grenville team. After a fine lunch they returned to the ice, but lost to another local team. In an understatement, skip Dave King confirms that they didn’t finish in the top three.

On April 7th, daytime curling results will be detailed, and after the closing banquet, the club championships will provide the entertainment for the fans. As to the teams: for the senior men, Mahlon Locke’s will do battle with Peter Zeran’s foursome, and the club championship will see Jack Barkley’s team against Sid Morrell’s quartet.

April 7th ends the season with the “rotating tag” game for the senior men, the brainchild of coordinator Dave King, and the day closes with the annual meeting.
