The Ladies Broder Cup was held in Winchester with two teams representing us: Susan McIntosh, Claire Locke, Heather Black and Nancy Barkley, as well as Kathy Norg, Joan MacKinnon, Kathy Killick and Cindy Paice. Susan’s team lost both of their matches, while Kathy Norg’s foursome took their afternoon match. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and a spectacular banquet, before the “A” and “B” finalists went out to compete for trophies. In the “A” division, the Winchester team, with our Wendy Casselman, lost their match, while Kathy Norg’s team dropped their game in the “B” final to Herrin from Russell. Well curled, folks!
Prescott sent three teams here for a friendly bonspiel last Wednesday. Our curlers were Pete Zeran, Fred “Boomer” Langlotz, Pete Byvelds and Terry Davis, Don McMillan, Al Harriman, Bert Smail and Charlie Farlinger, and Sam Locke, Ron Beaupre, Doug Dixon and Kent Dawley. The Zeran team won, but our other two groups were really friendly.   Nevertheless all enjoyed a good lunch before heading home.
Two teams of our senior men were in Cornwall last Friday for this season’s second Parnell Cup. Peter Zeran, Larry Ware, Earl Jeacle and John Gove, as well as Jack Barkley, Dave King, Doug Jarvis and Rick MacKenzie represented us well. Jack’s team lost their first game but won their afternoon match, after the usual fine lunch. Peter’s foursome won both games and brought the trophy back to Morrisburg, where it originated many years ago. Congratulations fellows. The third Parnell is in Prescott January 19th.
