2016 Stones Purchase

In the spring of 2016 with the help of fund raising by members and a generous donation from Morrisburg and District Lions, the club was able to purchase three sets of curling stones. The refurbished stones are composed of trefor brown granite inserted with blue hone granite. The denser blue hone is ideal for gliding on the ice while the durable trefor brown resists pitting or splintering when stones collide. This gives our curling stones the best combination of features for the game of curling. They are also equipped with handles previously used on our little rocks, making them compatible with most makes of delivery stick.

2015 Renovations

Our ice plant was upgraded in 2015 with a new chiller, receiver, and freon drier.  In our efforts to reduce energy expenses by 30% or more, it was decided to install a night setback system. The payback on this system should be 3 years or less. We hope then to be better positioned to save money that can be directed toward further upgrade of the ice plant and climate control.

2014 Renovations

The club underwent a face lift that included:

  • New entrance door and entrance steps
  • Construction of a wheel chair ramp
  • Addition of a handicapped washroom
  • Repositioning of bar to increase lounge area
  • New flooring
  • New appliances and storage cupboards in kitchen
