Over the holidays Wally Baker, our ice technician, flooded the ice and prepared for rentals. Curling resumed last Tuesday. The Thursday morning curlers finished their first draw, and we have the victorious teams. They are Maurice Kolff, Keith Robinson, Penny Charlebois and Mike Legault, with the 2nd and 3rd teams tied. Those are Wally Baker, Bill Magee, Claire Locke and Terry Davis, and Peter Zeran, Arnold Barkley, Linda Murphy and Mike Horton. A really competitive draw!

Three of our senior men’s teams are playing off for the right to compete in the next Parnell competition in Cornwall on Friday. We’ll have the results next week. Also Prescott will be here for a friendly match. We’ll have teams 1, 5 and 6 to host them.

Our Little Rockers and Bantams will be competing in February. We’ll have details when they become available.

On Wednesday night one of our ladies, Marlene Luchies, fell and bumped her head. The ambulance took her to hospital, but she reports that she did not have a concussion, just a big goose egg. The doctor tells her she’s to stay home for a week.

Cheryl Thompson, a fine curler at our club several years ago passed away over the holiday. Our condolences to Gerry Thompson, who was also a fine curler here. Both were active in the community and well-loved for their work. Our sympathies as well to Cheryl’s family. The funeral was on Thursday, and Cheryl will be laid to rest in Iroquois.

That’s it for now. Good curling!
