Last Wednesday three Cornwall teams were here on a return visit or a friendly match with our senior men. Our fellows were friendly, but they defeated all three squads. Andy Patenaude, Ron Beaupre, Kent Dawley and Hans Verbruggen, Raymond Benoit, Rick MacKenzie, Fred “Boomer” Langlois and Earl Jeacle, as well as Peter Zeran, Lynn Loucks, Al Harriman, and Jim Adams. They hid their pleasure while plying the visitors with suitable beverages and shared stories with them before sending them off with reminders of future bonspiels where they would meet again.

Wednesday night the ladies finish their first draw with four ends of curling followed by a festive evening of treats and special events before the Christmas break.  The Thursday morning teams will be having their banquet tomorrow, marking the end of their first draw, and awards will be presented then.

There will be a rental over the holiday season, and the ice will be flooded and conditioned for the resumption of curling on January 2nd

For the senior men, the next Parnell competition will be January 6th, in Cornwall, where we are allowed to send two teams. On January 20th, we will be in Prescott with two squads, for another Parnell competition.  Also on that date, three teams will be in Brockville for a friendly bonspiel.

The women’s two-team, four-club competition, the Broder, will be held in Russell on January 21st. The “A” and “B” finals will be held in the evening after the banquet.

Susan McIntosh will be having another two-person bonspiel on January 8th, and on January 11th the senior mixed curlers make a return visit to Russell for their friendly competition, eight ends of play, followed as usual by a very tasty luncheon.
